Mason’s last hurrah

I, along with 9 other WNCC players, will be able to tell our grandchildren that we were there when I Mason played out his final act as a WNCC player. It was lovely for those that had never previously met this WNCC legend, but heard many rumours, to hear him with great reluctance reminisce over his sporting career.

WNCC were delighted to welcome I Zingari CC to Norfolk and were equally thankful to Greshams school to allow us to use their 1st XI ground. I Zingari, founded in 1845, were captained by Simon Talbot Williams (WNCC hon. sec) and elected to bat.

Fairey leads by example

When the Captain (Mike Fairey) arrived at 2.15 for a 2.30 start to be greeted only by the groundsman and his dog and with no prior knowledge who had been selected for this contest amongst ‘Gentlemen’ further concern set in when the first 4 WN arrivals had a combined age of over 200.

West Norfolk fielded first and with the first over of Fakenham’s innings being a maiden WNCC were hopeful of restricting Fakenham to around 120 runs from their allotted 20 overs.
