Rolled over by Greshams
On paper the side was so strong that the the match manager retired from duty (after a vote of no confidence in his keeping from the club captain). After some solid batting with fifties from Sutton (ed: Slow) and Blackiston (ed: quicker), as well as the an altogether more stylish innings from Goodley (30) which ended in pure greed when a part time pie thrower came on.
West Norfolk collapsed in the middle order from 170 for 3 down to 186 for 8, with a minor come back from skipper Thompson and keeper Harrison to allow a sporting but realistic declaration on 225.
Hanson-Smith and Walpole opened up the bowling and Greshams openers (inc Sutton jnr) found plenty of gaps with a few missed chances and no wickets befor tea. Bowling after tea continued to be mediocre and with ten men (Walpole rtd hurt (and wounded)) room was allowed for Greshams to storm home with a win by 6 wickets.
