Burghley Park won the toss and batted.
A professional performance, WNCC did the job. Hagen, Stanton B, Thompson and Courtauld bowled out a talented if youthful Burghley Park XI. A good catch from JK in the slips, and RG took three to the gloves. Each time Burghley Park put a partnership together a wicket fell to peg them back. 112 all out.
Via Humphreys WNCC deployed “Giddz”, Arabic for Scud, who promptly scored 47 of WNCC’s first 50 runs. WNCC, 1 for 3 in comparison at the other end, struggled against some very accurate fast bowling from BP’s Wilson until Humphreys and RG settled the ship and saw WNCC home, 113/4.
The sun shone; beautiful setting, Hagen and Stanton B (Marshall/Holding) back in tandem, Thommo on the spot, Courtauld beguiling but effective in line and length, a great lunch and welcome, Good cricket and a fine WNCC win.
AJ Stanton’s debut for WNCC.
