Winning end to the season at Holkham
(Full results pending!)
WNCC posted a challenging 240 target in a game of 40 overs cricket, which included solid contributions from Fairey, Holden, Harrison, Seaman and Thompson R which was too much for the challenging pitch and solid bowling attack of Nathan Lomax, Richard Thompson, Ben Stanton and Simon Wilson-Stevens.
First game, first loss
Trinity Old Field was on fire with sunshine in early May (were has it gone?). sadly WNCC batting was not – with depleted numbers (9) – West Norfolk set a resonable total of 255 with strong contributions from Richard Thomspon (71), outscored to his fifty by John Everall (59) who is showing latent speed in the twilight of his batting career.
Match abondoned before a fall
Despite the Secretary organising two sides, Gresham’s were not aware of our game and the game was rescued with a used uncovered track and Mrs Fleming’s catering.
28th, 31st May, 1st June – 3 top fixtures against Gents of Suffolk, Mattishall in Fisher Cup and Greshams
Lets start the Summer with a bang
On almost the first beautiful evening of the Summer WNCC timed their run chase to perfection with an incredible last ball victory.
Perhaps there is such a thing as a Fisher Hangover or maybe the 4 Greshams 1st XI players who featured in our Fisher win were tuned to perfection by that victory. Whatever the reason WNCC were slightly below Par at Holt today.
Having had to wait another 2 weeks West Norfolk went into the Semi Final v Fakenham in good spirits but not exactly over prepared!
The Sun was out and Club Captain decided to Bat. Simon TW and debutant young Will opened up.
Captain Robert Gurney’s strategy of always batting first nearly paid dividends again last night at Fakenham. Unfortunately, circumstances conspired to thwart the WNCC Warriors but not before a fight.
Greshams win by four wickets.
West Norfolk had an uncharacteristically solid start, Junior JK (Harry Kennedy) inherited his fathers strike rate but set a solid platform for 65 for the first wicket stand.
