WNCC down Burghley

Another cracking game of cricket at Burghley Park.

WNCC batted first posting 276. Paul Richardson and Harry Kennedy, both opening on debut, launched WNCC off to a flyer with 11 from 10 overs, then let rip.

Team Sutton to the fore in 540 run thriller

Another wonderful game of cricket was edged by WNCC in the penultimate over as we chased down 270. Felsted won the toss and elected to bat and by 3pm had 220 for 2 on the scoreboard.

West Norfolk Youth hold back the tide but King Canute Russell is eventually overun

FF won the toss and batted. What an incredible display of batting by classic Wandering performers. Andy Mawson timed a majestic 143 and led FF to 294 for 2 off 55 overs.

WNCC show improved performance from the year before

Following last year’s convincing loss, WNCC performed better this year with a tidy bowling attack and some good keeping by James Holden.

As the Freddie Mercury tribute band warms-up WNCC season reaches crescendo …

“It’s a beautiful day” that saw nearly five hundred runs scored in 76 overs, on a wicket that was more “Save Me” than “Play the game”; with the skipper and the host warming up for their “Bicycle Race”, Mike (“My Fairy King”) Fairey led a team that was more “Fat Bottomed Girls” than “We are the champions”.

West Norfolk Steady Batting Performance Upstaged by Young Granta Unbroken Victory Partnership

Rusty batting and some very unlucky bowling (if not the occasional wide delivery) allows Young Granta side to impose a humiliating blow to WNCC

Fisher Cup Semi Success

A fabulous Fakenham evening had by all. Captain Gurney lost the toss, was inserted and then decided to be 12th man! Obviously a sensible decision because WNCC were ultimately victorious but possibly brought on by his massive recruiting campaign which resulted in 13 turning up with other spares as supporters! All good fun.

Youth saves the day

After late cry offs from key members of the squad, WNCC were fortunate to have available 2 young players in Freddie Fairey (age 8) and Harry Thompson (10). In baking hot sunshine, after losing the toss, Castle Rising elected to bat and ground out a relatively low score of 153 in 46 overs, with Freddie (1 for 15) and Harry (3 for 15) bowling extremely well.
